A map layer designating areas available for prospecting to those holding a prospecting licence has been added to the map viewer accessed via this website.

Fossicking Areas Available on Map Viewer
Tasmania's designated fossicking areas are available as a layer on the map viewer accessable via this website. The areas clearly define where fossicking is permitted without a prospecting licence. Anyone considering visiting a fossicking site should first view this layer in order to gain an understaning of the boundaries of their intended fossicking destination.

Updated Individual and Group Prospecting Licence Terms
Mineral Resources Tasmania, in consultation with the public and relevant State regulatory bodies, has reviewed and improved current Prospecting licence and Group Prospecting licence policies. This has simplified the Group Prospecting Licence application process resulting in improved terms for individual Prospecting Licence holders.
