Mineral Resources Tasmania has an extensive collection of publications issued by MRT and the former Department of Mines, as well as a large collection of books, journals and Australian and international Geological Survey publications. The collection is also a repository for reports by mining exploration companies on their mineral exploration activities in Tasmania. The reports issued by Mineral Resources Tasmania and its predecessors, and the company exploration reports, form an invaluable archive of geological information dating back to 1860.
The collection is housed in the Rosny Park offices of MRT and is available to the public for reference only. Online searching of MRT reports, mineral exploration and petroleum exploration reports is available.
General or specific requests for information can be answered from our own resources or through our links with other libraries.
Most materials may be borrowed on inter-library loan. Requests are only accepted through other libraries not from individuals. Requests can be sent via mail, fax or email.
Limited bibliographic or literature searches can be prepared from MRT resources.
