Landslide Monitoring

MRT currently monitors two landslides in the state; the School Creek Landslide at Taroona and the Lawrence Vale Landslide at South Launceston

With the support of a grant from the Natural Disaster Mitigation Programme, a near real-time monitoring facility at Taroona has been operating since 2008. This facility monitors rainfall, groundwater and landslide movement and from this a clear relationship between long term rainfall and movement has been established. Reports for the School Creek Landslide are available for download from this website and from Kingborough Council.

A review of Tasmania's most costly landslide, the Lawrence Vale Landslip in South Launceston, is also available for download.
